Abu Camp
Abu Camp is the home of the original elephant-back safari in Africa, allowing guests the extraordinary privilege of becoming part of an elephant family by riding atop members of the resident herd and watching, at close quarters, the interaction between these magnificent animals and their offspring with other wildlife of the Okavango. All our elephants have been rescued from zoos and culling exercises. Guests quickly learn the individual character of each elephant and the magic of getting acquainted with the world’s largest mammal. It is an experience that has been described by many guests as “the ultimate safari”.
ACCOMMODATION
The camp itself, set in an ancient rivering frest, has six custom-built, stylishly furnished tents with en-suite bathrooms. Each tent has its own tree-shaded deck overlooking a large lagoon with its resident hippos and abundant animal and birdlife. The main deck, sculpted around African ebony and sycamore fig trees, has a dappled cool ambience. The large lounge and dining tent has breathtaking views over the lagoon and a library and study.

Activities on offer beside Elephant back safaris are game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, night drives, guided walks in the bush and mokoro trips.
