Time Travel (PTY) Ltd started operations in October 2002 and has since developed a reputation as a reliable travel agent, selling air travel and holiday packages to the resident population of Maun and overseas tourists travelling worldwide. In 2008 we expanded by selling inbound packages to the overseas market. In 2004 we were granted our IATA licence, enabling us to ticket for most airlines: for the few airlines we are unable to ticket we have the full back-up and support of our sister office, Munlin Travel based in South Africa.
The company is owned and run by Bronwyn Schwikkard, a fully qualified and experienced travel consultant who has lived in Maun for most of her life.
Sharon van Breda, who is based in Melbourne, Australia, has joined us on our ‘inbound’ side and is on our email address of

Sharon brings with her a
wealth of travel agency experience and travel marketing.
Time Travel was joined this year by Caroline Lindstrom who brings to the team several years’ experience in the safari industry: she will be assisting Sharon with our inbound bookings and in time with our Maun clients on our outbound bookings. Caroline is on

Buzz Off – Information about Malaria
The whole of Botswana is a Malaria area and it is therefore very important
to take precautions.
Malaria is cause by the parasite transmitted by the female Anopheles mosquito.
What Precautions to take?
- Prophylactics - There are 3 types of anti-malaria medication:
Doxycycline
Menfloquine
Malanil
All three are equally effective although each has specific potential side effects. Consult your health advisor to determine the appropriate one for you.
Treatment must always be started before you embark on your trip. - Wear protective clothing – cover up with long sleeve shirts and long pants.
- Use insect repellents such as sprays, lotions, coils or electric mats. Products that contain DEET (or Meta-N,N-diethyl toluamide) are the safest, most effective repellents.
- Sleep under mosquito nets
Symptoms of Malaria
Malaria causes a flu-like illness and these would include
- fever
- rigors (shaking which occurs during high fever)
- headaches
- sweating
- tiredness
- myalgia (muscular pain in back and limbs)
- abdominal pain
- diarrhea
- loss of appetite
- orthostatic hypotension (dizziness)
- nausea
- slight jaundice
- cough
- enlarged liver and spleen (sometimes not palpable)
- vomiting
Fever in the first week of travel in a malaria-risk area is unlikely to be malaria; however, any traveler feeling ill should seek immediate medical care.
